Jewelry Creations Donates to Amy’s Treat in Honor of Store Manager

Dover, NH — Jewelry Creations, a local family-owned business, has made a $2,600 donation to Amy’s Treat to help provide cold cap therapy for a chemotherapy patient who might not otherwise have access to this vital, hair-preserving treatment.

The donation was made in honor of Kim Cavanaugh, store manager at Jewelry Creations and sister to store owner Kelly Glennon. Kim recently completed twelve weeks of chemotherapy and experienced firsthand the benefits of cold cap therapy. The treatment, which helps reduce hair loss during chemotherapy, allowed Kim to maintain a sense of dignity and normalcy throughout her cancer journey—an experience her family now hopes to extend to others.

“Losing your hair can feel like losing part of your identity,” said Kelly Glennon. “Kim approached her treatment with such strength and grace. Being able to preserve her hair made a meaningful difference for her, and we hope this donation helps someone else feel the same strength and confidence.”

Cold cap therapy is not always covered by insurance, making it inaccessible for many patients. By supporting access to this treatment, the team at Jewelry Creations hopes to raise awareness of its emotional and psychological benefits and encourage more widespread availability.

Kim, who is now passionate about cancer advocacy, emphasized how empowering it was to have access to cold cap therapy. “It wasn’t about vanity—it was about feeling like myself in a time when so much was out of my control,” said Cavanaugh. “If sharing my experience helps one more person face treatment with a little more hope, then that’s what I want to do.”

Amy’s Treat is a local nonprofit that provides solutions to the day-to-day difficulties of living with cancer and offers unexpected “treats” to renew the spirit. For more information, visit amystreat.org.
